Looking for funding?

This site contains a range of resources to help you find out about funding, generating income and how to develop a sustainable funding strategy. It won’t ‘find you a funder’ but it will help you to navigate through the maze of options and issues surrounding funding. And it will help you to find the best starting points for identifying the right funding and funder for you.

Need to know about entering into a contract with your local authority? Thinking about trading as well as getting grants? Wondering about a loan? You should find plenty of material here, along with advice on where to get further help.
To help you quickly access the information you need, the resources have been listed under various topic headings in the left hand menu.

Under each topic you will find Introductory Overviews covering a range of issues, a formatted pdf leaflet of the text which you can download and print and a resources section containing links to further resources on the topic.

Some topics will also offer links to relevant Case Studies and some of the more technical topics have Expert Guides.

Finding the funds to help run your organisation is not an easy task and finding a funder may not always be the start of the process. This site aims to provide you with the information you need to assess your organisation’s capacity to manage funding and to plan a funding strategy that best meets your needs.

A good place to start in identifying what your group may need is by using the Funding mix.
The Funding Mix is a simple but effective tool that you can use to guide you to the content that will be most useful to your needs.

If you are an absolute beginner to fundraising then you may like to you start at:

If you’re looking for sources of funding, our section Getting help may help direct you to professional advice and support.

As funding trends and patterns shift, you may wish to consider alternative means of funding to sustain and develop your organisation. Our overviews aim to provide you with a balanced view of funding sources that will help you to decide the forms of funding or finance that are right for your organisation.

Our Guide to Fundraising also introduces fundraising, and covers fundraising from the public, from businesses and from local communities. It doesn’t look at applying for grants.

Researching Tender opportunities

This section lists some of the key sites where public sector contracts may be advertised and a range of Finance Hub resources on procurement, tendering and contracting are also listed at the end of this section.
